We've been running our trade-in incentive since June 2024 and have been blown away by its success in contributing to the circular economy and reducing toy waste.
What is the trade - in incentive?
We have a large range of preloved toys and resources that are prehistoric/dinosaur related or fit within extended play around this theme.
You can shop our preloved range under our Saved From Extinction category.
We source preloved toys and resources that are in safe, clean, and good condition. The toys and resources do not need to be brands we stock and do not need to be exclusively dinosaur or prehistoric, but if they are not, they need to compliment prehistoric themed play or learning.
If you have toys and resources you no longer need, then we will happily exchange them for store credit!
How does the incentive work?
Send us clear pictures of your toys and resources via direct message on instagram or via email to Roar@stegandrex.co.uk
If the toys or resource has any marks then please show this in the images
Once we have received the images we will offer you a store credit value. If you choose to accept the amount we offer, you then send us your items via Royal Mail Tracked delivery.
Once we receive your items and they match the images sent, we will transfer you store credit for the value offered along with the postage cost.
You can then use your store credit with us to buy more toys/resources and your trade in toys/resources will be sold to new homes!
It is a beautiful circular way of shopping and saving our planet in the process.

How many times can I use the trade in incentive?
As many times as you wish! We are also not precious about the type of toy or resources. We know children enjoy all different kinds of toys, and every toy can bring joy and spark imagination in so many ways
We will take plastic, wooden, paper, card, small, large, books, character toys, resources, mud kitchen items, anything that we feel others would go on to enjoy we will save from landfill.
Do you reject items?
Yes, some items don't meet our criteria, we would like toys and resources to be enjoyed for many years to come and to be part of future reloving journeys. If a toy or resource is damaged or doesn't fit with our values, we may reject an item. However, please come back to us with future items for consideration
Has the incentive been successful?
Yes!! We currently have so many toys and resources that have been traded in for store credit that we have a huge inventory of preloved items. We upload items to Saved From Extinction at regular intervals and still are uploading items traded in from last August!
We are so pleased people are taking up the incentive, and recycling their old toys for new.
Do you pause the incentive if you have an influx of items?
No, we believe in toys for all. That toys and resources should be accessible, valued, and loved again and again.
We use pricing that reflects a toys value and to discourage throw away purchasing.
We have had some wonderful feedback from people who have brought from the Saved From Extinction range, and their children have enjoyed the toys.
We will always accept toys via our trade in route, even if we are full to the rafters!
What has been your favourite Saved From Extinction item?
The Woolly Mammoth Anatomy Model! Boy was that popular. It's great to see an educational resource be loved so much and inspire so many young minds
A close second is the Ocean Protector Mosasaurus. I love him (he's still available) because he is made using a proportion of plastics removed from the sea!!
