We invited a group of young future palaeontologists to an afternoon of dinosaur exploration! Read all about our Dinosaur Day...
We sent out some very special invitations and adventure followed
It is important to us to inspire the next generation of curious, pioneering minds that will go into the future, loving our planet and having knowledge about the past
There were a range of activities that promoted hands-on learning, creativity, and exploration.
Dinosuit is a creation from the wonderful Ross Padgett! You can read more on the website here
The Dinosuit (wearable fossil suit) was an activity that brought all ages together. They worked collaboratively to build a dinosaur skeleton that they could wear and animate! Some children were as young as 3, yet got stuck in and enjoyed working out where pieces went and asked for guidance from older children. The dinosuit is a brilliant educational resource that not only inspires creativity, science, engineering, maths, and so much more, but...connects children with our natural history, let's them step into a world where they can move like a dinosaur, imitating the footsteps and movements that those giants would have made, and paving the way for a love of learning
You can get your Dinosuit here. We will also be sharing a future article all about the Dinosuit so please do check back
Fossils were the theme of the day and the children had opportunity to search for their own! We brought together elements of our fossil dig kit, our exclusive range of flashcards and board from EverydayMessyPlay and resin fossils from Toddler Approves Resin shop them all here
They created their own fossils using air dry clay and skeletons and got creative making festive decorations, dino style of course!
You will already know our love for The Sample Project Palettes! So these needed nothing more than to be left out for the children to play with, they just know how to play!
Shop Sample Project Boxes here
We created dino skin in readiness for the fun that came creating our dinos at the Snap Kit creation station! This is a must-have resource. Just use waste recycling and get punching and clicking with the included hole punch and connectors! The creations were amazing! Shop the Snap Kit here and read more about it on their website
Amongst the fun we searched for bones, ate lunch together and just enjoyed being explorers with a shared love for dinos!
Oh, and how pretty do the dino decorations look on our scavenger hunt prize table? You can shop our Meri Meri party range here
Next time it's Easter!
Remember, a love of dinosaurs is a gateway into learning about our natural history and so many other areas, as your child gets older, they will already be familiar with timelines, extinction, habitats, climates, history... it's limitless
We do sell dinos but also an amazing array of resources to support dino play and learning!
Special thanks to @homeschoolingtwoboys @sarah4turner1 @homeschool_onthe_hill @sensorysnail and Dinosuit
